Comfort dogs at 2014 Boston Marathon

  1. Marcy Wilhelm-South

Boston Magazine and Dogtime.com report that the Lutheran Church Charities K-9 Comfort Dogs had a team available at the Boston Marathon yesterday. The group has had the canines available several times to those who may have had a need for them in the aftermath of the bombing at last year’s marathon, including during the days immediately following the event and then again six months later. The dogs were also available at times throughout the weekend leading up to the marathon itself.

I've read that also on Pitsky . Taking responsibility for a pet that a previous owner has abandoned or released to a shelter or rescue organization is a good practice these days. Some responsible shelters, pounds, and rescue organizations refuse to supply animals to people whom they judge unable to supply the animal with a suitable home.
