Since the attacks of September 11th 2001, 2.5 million troops have been deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. For the many men and women returning from multiple tours and long-sustained conflicts, Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) have emerged as signature injuries of the newest generation of soldiers. As they face a new battle on the Homefront, Warriors' Best Friend is bringing the power of the Human-Animal Bond to cities all across the United States to help these soldiers heal.
Medical studies prove that service dogs can help speed up a soldier’s recovery, both physically and emotionally. And unlike other treatments, service canines provide a lifetime of assistance and companionship. Carefully vetted rescue canines go through a rigorous training process and get a new lease on life as a partner for a deserving wounded warrior. Unfortunately, many of our country’s warriors have to wait years to receive a service dog.
Now, you can make a difference in the lives of our valiant warriors and rescued canines by following their training progress and sharing the experience with your friends and family. While use of this website is free to you, funds raised from our corporate sponsors make it possible for Warriors' Best Friend to rescue and train more homeless canines so that more warriors can receive the service dog they desperately need as quickly as possible.
