HABRI Central Update - November 2, 2012
A new update to HABRI Central brings major improvements to several areas of the site.
New search options are available for the HABRI Central Bibliography. General searches now look through a greater number of metadata fields (e.g., author, title, publication date, etc.) and results can now be filtered more accurately by tag, author, publication, and publication date. Additionally, users can now choose to filter results by an entry’s peer-review and evidence-based status. For more information about the Bibliography and its features, visit the Knowledge Base.
A new tag management system will allow HABRI Central administrators to more effectively categorize the tags used on the site. Over the past year, we’ve accrued over 12,000 tags as the result of ingesting materials from several different disciplines. We’re now working to improve the usefulness of tags by eliminating redundancy and merging synonymous tags into discipline-independent groups. This effort requires input from many different individuals from many different areas of human-animal interaction studies, so we need your help to decide on core terms and groupings. Head over to the HAB Ontology group to lend your thoughts to the discussion.
Individual user profile privacy settings have been changed to improve option clarity. Privacy settings can be reviewed on your user dashboard by clicking your name in the upper right-hand corner of the screen.
The Forums have been improved throughout all areas of HABRI Central. Clicking on the “Last Post” link from within the main forum will lead you to the most recent post made in the forums. The “Latest Discussions” feed on the front page now displays the most recent posts added throughout HABRI Central’s forums, including all areas you have access to. Additionally, users need not be logged in to view public posts.
In addition to the aforementioned changes, a number of minor user interface changes can be found throughout several areas of HABRI Central.
