Patchogue Rotary Animal Assisted Therapy (PRAAT) - I just want to introduce myself

  1. David Roy Hensen

    Hi HABRI community.

I just want to introduce myself. My name is David Hensen. I am a veterinarian practicing out of the Paumanok Veterinary Hospital in Patchogue ( http://www.paumanokvethospital.com/ ). I also founded in 1992 and continue to oversee the Patchogue Rotary Animal Assisted Therapy program ( http://praatinc.org/). We are fairly big in Long Island – over 50 active volunteers and numbers growing, visit 40 facilities and numbers growing. During a 20 year period we’ve had over 400 volunteers and have collectively made over 10,000 AAA / AAT visits. Outside of Long Island probably nobody has heard of us.

I graduated in 1983 and still have to get use to these online communities. They did not exist back then.

There are some specific study projects I would like to get involved with which I will describe and post soon under the “new initiatives and projects” section.

    Thanks for “listening”

    Respectfully,

    Dave Hensen, DVM, DABVP
