Bacteria Used to Treat Canine Cancer is Now Being Used in Human Trials

    Researchers have been studying the effect of Clostridium novyi bacteria on naturally occurring tumors in dogs. The study showed that the tumors were eliminated in three of the six dogs that participated in the study. The other dogs in the study showed significant tumor reduction. The success of the C. novyi bacteria in this study has encouraged researchers to start using it in human trials in multiple locations throughout the U.S.
