New York Shelter Will Let Domestic Violence Survivors Live With Their Pets

New York domestic violence shelter and service provider Urban Resource Institute hopes to meet a need with its new PALS Place opening this October. PALS Place will be a domestic violence shelter that houses survivors and their animal companions. While up to 48 percent of domestic violence victims cite concern for their pet as being a reason they couldn't leave an abusive relationship, less than five percent of the domestic violence shelters across the country provide housing for those with pets.
