Abstract

Home Before Dark is a video about the assistance dog placements for children with autism that North Star Foundation put into play during their first ten years of service. Created by Executive Director Patty Dobbs Gross and her talented son Daniel, who is himself on the spectrum, this video focuses on several North Star teams in action and demonstrates how the dogs become therapeutic tools for their children to help them to achieve their social, emotional or educational goals. Thoughts for creating a happy family life, despite the challenges autism presents, are shared.
