In 2002, All for Animals incorporated as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization for the purpose of teaching young people to be kind and respectful to animals, people and the environment.
Over the years, our vision for the organization has evolved and expanded and today, we focus on giving children the opportunity to experience the unconditional love of animal companions through humane education and literacy programs that nurture the human-animal bond.
For the past 11 years, our Compassion for Critters humane education program has reached thousands of children in Santa Barbara through reading, storytelling, and interaction with a variety of animals. Our presentations build on the natural curiosity and affection that children have toward animals and helps them create safe and satisfying relationships with animals that will last a lifetime. Launched in February, 2013, ARF! (Animals + Reading = Fun!) is an innovative literacy program that gives disadvantaged first and second grade students an opportunity to improve their reading skills while inspiring them to become life-long readers by reading aloud to specially trained therapy dogs. ARF! is the only program of its kind in Santa Barbara that provides a results-based literacy program utilizing therapy dog teams in a classroom setting.
