Abstract

The use of animals in assisting people with special needs is gaining acceptance. However, the assessment and success of animal-assisted therapy programs has primarily been based on anecdotal evidence. We have designed a pilot study to determine whether therapy dogs may be beneficial in assisting those with autism spectrum disorder.
