Abstract

Reptiles have always been a misunderstood group of animals, often “vilified” for being different. It takes some education and understanding to see why they do the things they do and in some ways Yamini draw parallels with them, being a woman doing some pretty unconventional things. Yamini was doing a Ph.D. in neuroscience when she realized this is not what I want to do for the rest of my life. So she quit her Ph.D. and decided to head over to India to get to know reptiles better.

Currently working as the goodwill ambassador for Madras Crocodile Bank Trust and having worked as a Trainer & Presenter at the Wildlife Reserve Singapore Yamini Bhaskar strives at educating people, building respect & care for animals that are unpopular amongst the masses.

This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at http://ted.com/tedx
