Abstract | Like other medical practitioners, veterinarians increasingly face diseases for which neither cause nor cure is known. Control for remissions, interrupted by periodic flare-ups, may constitute the best we can offer. For as much as this lack of knowledge may frustrate Dr. Rustin, though, it pales beside the frustration she experiences trying to communicate in a meaningful way with owners who must live with these animals daily. |
