This edited volume, published by Routledge in 2012, is written for mental health professionals who are interested in incorporating equine assisted counseling techniques into their practice modalities. Trotter collected a wide range of essays†from†counselors working with horses in clinical practice†for†counselors interested in this therapeutic intervention. In her introduction, Trotter provides information on her background in the field, including her doctoral dissertation and subsequent publication on the efficacy of group equine assisted counseling with at-risk children (Trotter, Chandler, Goodwin-Bond, & Casey, 2008). Additionally, she offers readers suggestions on how to best use this book as well as detailed biographies on each of the essay contributors.
