Abstract |
This capstone explores the opportunity to provide an alternate reading intervention program to reluctant readers in the comfort of their own home. Canine-assisted reading programs have been implemented in school districts around the country; providing students with a reading partner that will not judge them and will make them feel safe. These programs have proven to help students gain confidence in their reading abilities, as well as show growth in fluency and comprehension. The author explores how implementing this program at home can be just as beneficial. |
