Abstract

This talk explores and shares key ways we can support the healthier aging of our dogs and our humans. We can learn from the many parallels in how people and dogs age, and doing so can make the often challenging caregiving journey a better one, for all our aging loved ones, while helping us to improve our abilities to care and to appreciate as well. Elizabeth Johnson has been working with the health and wellness of small, large and exotic animals as well as wildlife for more 35 years. Her work includes doing equine and canine bodywork and rehabilitation on competitive and companion animals. In return, Johnson says the animals have trained her in patience, understanding, divine presence and humility as well as human nature. As a practitioner, she sees that the needs of each animal and human are different.
